The Festival has now concluded and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped in the planning and implementation of the festival events.

Chagford really joined in to make it a town Event, the marvellous response from the shops and businesses with their fantastic array of Film themed windows. Thanks to Sally's Newsagents for also selling tickets.

The winner of the Competition to guess all the films in the shop windows was Kit Rush, there were only four fully correct answer sheets, from which the winner was drawn at random on the Gala Night. A full list of the window answers is on display at The Globe Inn.

The Best Shop window chosen by two independent judges was J. Bowden & Son Son.

Some of the highlights of the week:

Opening night Moulin Rouge.

Film music from the Nicky Scott's band, and a great show from the Burlesque Girls who made the front page of the "Okehampton Times" on the Thursday 22nd.

Tuesday 20th:

Vintage Home Movies of Chagford, many thanks to the Price family for loaning the films for the DVD, copies of which can be ordered from The Globe Inn. All profits to the Festival Charity Farms for City Children.

World Premier of "The Long March to Freedom," when we had the honour of the sup rise attendance of one of the Marchers who now lives in Totnes, as well as a Grandson of one of the Marchers. This was a very moving story and we are grateful to the Director Stephen Saunders and the Editor David Ashardi for allowing us to premier the film. Stephen has also joined the Chagford Film Club.

Press: The Sunday Express of Sept 18th printed a double page article about the The Long March to Freedom.

Wednesday 21st "Sunrise" with a wonderful score played and composed by Elizabeth Jane Baldry on harp in the atmospheric venue of St Michael and the Archangel church Chagford.

Thursday 22nd: During the day two local gentlemen, TV presenter Nick Baker and filmmaker Richard Terry entertained the children at Chagford Primary School and in The Globe. Many thanks to them for giving up their time so generously.

In the evening Mike Ploog story board artist entertained all those present with some great stories of his life long experiences in the film industry. Thank you Mike.

Late night Horror: A truly scary movie from local Director Billy O'Brien who kindly introduced the film.

Saturday Finale & Gala Evening:

The evening kicked off with song's from the movies featuring Phil and Annie on vocals, thanks to them for all the time they put in rehearsing new songs especially for the night.

Then our special guest, Oscar winning Producer of the King's Speech Gareth Unwin kindly introduced the the film. and answered questions afterwards. We were very grateful to Garth for giving up his time to come to Chagford, as since the success of the film you can imagine he is very much in demand. He was also very generous with his Oscar (gosh aren't they heavy) which passed around The Globe giving many of you a photo opportunity. A big thank you to Gareth and his fiancee Rosie for supporting the Festival and the new Film Club. We look forwards to his next film with anticipation.

Finally thank you to everyone who came to the films and events during the week, without you it would not have been so successful.

Mary, Graham, Don, Nicky, Tina, Clare, Sara and Stuart.
